Hello Friend,

Thank you for spending time looking over the information here on the Hope Baptist Church website. I would like to share some things with you from the point of being the founding Pastor but also from a Christian that has a heart for Ministry and a desire to grow. That’s why I am so excited about HBC and what God is doing in and through this Ministry and His people.

HBC held its first services on Sunday October 29, 2000. Our first services were held at John Lawrence Elementary School in Archdale, North Carolina, and that school was our home for five and a half years. During that time God provided for us to purchase land at our current location, 4872 Old Edgar Rd. Sophia, North Carolina. This would be a good time to share with you something that only God can get the credit for: Hope Baptist Church is committed to being a debt-free Ministry to the glory of God.

Over the last fifteen years the Lord has provided for the purchase of twenty-two acres of land, the construction of two 7500 square foot buildings, a wonderful 3200 square foot covered shelter (the site of the annual Sophia Camp Meeting), and much, much more. It is truly amazing to see God’s provisions come through trusting Him!

HBC is not the result of a Church split. My wife Penny, and I, felt God impressing upon our hearts as early as 1995 the vision to plant a Church in this area. However, the time was not right. He was preparing us for the work He had for us. From 1995-2000 the Lord brought people into our lives that had the same burden. The vision was for a Church where people could hear the Gospel and be saved, but also for a Church where saved people could grow and be prepared for the work of the Ministry. (Ephesians 4:11-12)

Our Mission Statement: For People to Know Jesus and For People to Know Him Better is the spring board for all we do. HBC is about:

Evangelism – We believe that the Great Commission given to us by our Lord in Matthew 28:19-20 requires us to go outside the four walls of the Church and teach and preach the Gospel.

Fellowship – We love to get together. HBC is one of the friendliest churches you will ever be a part of. We like to eat, go on road trips, and just hang out with each other.

Discipleship – HBC is a hub for learning about the Bible and applying the Word of God to our lives. We have the traditional Sunday School classes for all ages. There is a Men’s class and a Discover Hope class that introduces HBC to you. We also offer a Bible Institute where you can earn a Diploma in Biblical Studies and, if you have a Bachelor’s Degree you can even pursue a Master’s Degree in Ministry through Piedmont International University.

Ministry – HBC gives men, women, teen-agers and children the opportunity to be involved in Ministry and serving others. Ministries inside the Church, such as, Teaching, Singing, Musicians, as well as Mission Trips, Outreach Programs and much more. We want you to employ your spiritual gifts for the glory of God and for the benefit of men.

Worship – Although we often place Worship in an hour long box on Sunday mornings, we know that worshipping God is much bigger than that! We have Spirit-filled Worship services, with good singing and preaching, testifying and altar calls, but we know that true Worship of God involves all of these avenues. Our Worship can’t just be for an hour on Sunday morning…it has to be a part of our lives as we share the Gospel, encourage one another, study and apply the Bible, and as we touch the lives of others with the love of Jesus Christ.

I could go on and on, but we want to invite you to come and experience Hope Baptist Church. I know you will be blessed!
